About us

Pioneering in osmotic energy, Sweetch Energy harnesses a natural and untapped energy source – the salinity gradient between freshwater and seawater – to produce clean, competitive, and non-intermittent electricity through its patented INOD® technology.

Our mission is clear: to accelerate the global energy transition by developing a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. Backed by a multidisciplinary and international team, Sweetch Energy combines scientific excellence with industrial vision to deploy solutions with global impact.

Currently in a full industrialization phase, our company is preparing to roll out a unique technology on a large scale, positioning France at the forefront of renewable energy innovation.

If you’re passionate about innovation and ready to take on ambitious challenges to help shape a low-carbon future, this opportunity is for you!

Your mission

Team Environment

You’ll join the Innovation & Exploration team, made up of 5 people whose mission is to explore new materials, processes, and applications to improve the performance, durability, and impact of our bio-based membrane technology.

As part of the larger Innovation department, which includes around 15 complementary profiles, you’ll contribute to a shared ambition: pushing technological boundaries to make osmotic energy a viable and widely accessible solution.

Main Mission

Carry out laboratory experiments to develop new formulations, test new manufacturing processes, and explore new application areas. You’ll be at the core of the innovation process, in an environment where versatility, precision, and curiosity are key.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and conduct experiments on new membrane or functional material formulations (bio-based, polymers, additives, etc.).

  • Participate in the design and execution of experimental plans, ensuring protocol rigor, result traceability, and data analysis.

  • Contribute to the evaluation of new raw materials, including compatibility testing, physico-chemical characterization, and stability.

  • Perform laboratory-scale tests on new membrane manufacturing processes (coating, casting, impregnation, etc.).

  • Support the transfer to the Process Development team by assisting with initial tests on pilot equipment and drafting preparation protocols.

  • Apply characterization and ageing test protocols (mechanical tests, absorption, porosity, chemical resistance, etc.).

  • Document results thoroughly in clear and actionable reports.

  • Take part in lab management: stock handling, routine equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement of tools and practices.

  • Be proactive in ideation, trial-and-error phases, and fast development cycles, working closely with other teams (innovation, product & process, etc.).

The ideal profile

  • Educational background: BAC+2/+3 level (e.g., BUT, BTS, or equivalent) in Materials Science, Physical Measurements, Chemistry, or similar.

  • Technician or assistant engineer with at least 5 years of R&D experience, ideally in chemistry, organic chemistry, or materials science.

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory practices in chemistry and physico-chemistry: formulation, weighing, solubilization, handling of chemical products, following complex protocols.

  • Proficient in standard physico-chemical characterization tools (analytical balance, viscometer, pH meter, mechanical tests, spectroscopy, etc.).

  • High level of experimental precision: careful preparation, structured note-taking, and clear documentation.

  • Ability to write clear experimental protocols and analyze/validate results.

  • Capable of anticipating and identifying anomalies, troubleshooting technical issues, and interpreting challenges encountered during experiments.

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with a high level of adaptability: exploratory topics, evolving hypotheses, short development cycles.

  • Team spirit, autonomy, enthusiasm for experimentation, and practical problem-solving.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience in a startup or technological innovation environment.

  • Familiarity with bio-based materials or membrane manufacturing processes.

  • Experience with pilot-scale processes (beyond lab scale).

  • Awareness of sustainability, green chemistry, and low-impact manufacturing.
